LAUREL BLUE BLOOD
We remember London singer Laurel's 'Blue Blood' from when it was just a delicate, promising home demo - listening to it a couple of years on, the progression that Ms Arnell-Cullen has made is staggering. Recorded with a twenty-four piece string section at Angel Studios, 'Blue Blood' borders on the epic, as far as sweetly constructed pop of this type goes. The previously mentioned string section adds an emotional punch to Laurel's tender piano motifs and crystal-clear vocals. As much as we're a fan of all of Laurel's work, this is the most musclebound she's sounded since the spectacular, booming 'Fire Breather'. Take notice. - DC
